The Espresso Martini is a popular cocktail that combines the rich flavors of coffee and the elegance of a classic martini. It is a relatively modern cocktail with a history that dates back to the 1980s. The cocktail is credited to Dick Bradsell, a renowned British bartender who worked at the Soho Brasserie in London during the 1980s. According to the popular account, a customer approached Bradsell one evening, asking for a drink that would "wake her up" while also "f**k her up." Taking this as a challenge, Bradsell combined vodka, coffee liqueur, sugar syrup, and a shot of espresso to create a cocktail that met the customer's request. He then shook it vigorously with ice and served it in a martini glass, garnished with coffee beans.
Alambika came up with its own version of this iconic beverage and we believe it is worth tasting!
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Vanilla Vodka (Or 1oz Spirit of choice and 1/2 oz Galliano)
- 1 oz Prosyro Espresso Mix
- 1 oz Water
Method
- Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake for at least 45 seconds. Espresso mix contains vegan foamer so the foam needs a lot of shaking to build up
- Strain into martini glass and make sure to strain the foam too
Pro tip
If that’s too sweet you could dial the syrup down to 3/4 oz.
