Absinthe Spoon - Leaf II Gold

$16.95
$16.95

This is one of our most beloved absinthe spoon. This ornate and delicate spoon represents a whole absinthe plant branch. You can even see an absinthe's flower bud at its top. Like plants shoots searching for the sunlight, the sides of the spoon are pointing upward to keep the sugar in place. It is possible to read "Muse de France" stamped on the spoon. The rounded handle has, on one side, three bumps that were used as a crushing device to help melting undissolved sugar lumps.

An original copy of that exact spoon was used for the Mila and Dracula's absinthe scene in the 1992 Coppola's movie "Dracula" thanks to the generosity of Marie-Claude Delahaye, a leading authority on absinthe and director of the Absinthe Museum in Auvers-sur-Oise.
Definitly a crowd's favorite and one of our best seller.

Since real absinthe has no additional sugar in it, spoons are used to hold a sugar cube above the glass while a fountain drips water on it in order to sweeten and dilute the drink. Once sweetened and mixed to your taste, use the spoon to stir the "purée" (old french slang for an absinthe diluted with cold water.)
