The Mint Julep is a fresh but boozy cocktail. In the 1800's, it used to be cherished for its medicinal attributes. Using only whisky, syrup and mint, it was a simple and effective way to treat stomach aches back in the days... Today, it is mostly known for being Kentucky Derby's official cocktail!
INGREDIENTS
- 2 oz Whisky
- 0.25 oz Simple Syrup
- 7-8 Mint leaves
- 1 full dropper of aromatic bitters (here we used Bittercube Trinity Bitters)
- Fresh mint bouquet, to garnish
PREPARATION
- Add the ingredients to your julep glass (or old fashioned tumbler);
- Add a spoon of crushed ice, mix gently ;
- Add remaining ice to form a small dome on top of the glass;
- Pick a mint spring into the crushed ice and voilà!
